Top Honors for Greece at the Wanderlust Travel Awards 2025

Greece scored major wins at the 2025 Wanderlust Travel Awards, earning top recognition for its culture, gastronomy, and standout destinations at both the European and global level.

At the event’s 24th edition—held at London’s National Gallery and hosted by travel presenter Simon Reeve—Greece won Gold for Most Desirable Destination for Culture & Heritage. It also placed in the top 10 for Most Desirable European Country 2025 and Most Desirable Destination for Gastronomy.

The Greek Islands added to the country’s success with a Bronze Award for Most Desirable Islands in Europe, while Athens ranked among Europe’s top 10 most desirable cities. Earlier this year, the Regions of Attica and Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, along with Skiathos, submitted nominations, though the top titles went to Normandy and Ireland.

Other global winners included Japan as the Most Desirable Country in the World, Italy as Most Desirable Country in Europe, and Albania as Most Desirable Emerging Destination.
